Importing a link
- Copy the address of a recipe page.
- In Recipe Keeper, tap Add, then Paste a link. If the link is already copied, the paste button fills it in.
- Check the preview: the photo, title, source and the number of ingredients and steps.
- Tap Save, or Edit before saving to change anything first.
The preview shows the recipe the app found on that page, so check it before you save. Every saved recipe keeps its source link.
Video and social links are saved as link cards with the page title, so you can find them again. The app does not import the recipe from a video.
Recipe Keeper: Save & Cook is coming soon to the App Store.
Requirements
- iPhone
- iOS 26 or later
- English or German
The Safari share sheet
- Open the recipe page in Safari and tap the Share button.
- Tap Recipe Keeper in the row of apps. It says the recipe is saved to Recipe Keeper.
- Open Recipe Keeper. The import preview appears; tap Save.
If Recipe Keeper is not in the row, swipe left over the row of apps, tap More, then tap Edit, and turn on Recipe Keeper. Add it to Favorites to keep it near the front.
For the details, see how to save recipes from websites on iPhone.
When a site does not import
Link import works with most recipe sites. It reads the recipe data the page publishes, so a page without it cannot be imported from the link. The app tells you which case you hit and offers the next step:
- No recipe data on this page: tap Paste the text instead. Copy the ingredients and steps from the page and paste them; headings, blank lines and numbered steps help the app tell ingredients from steps.
- The site refused: share the page from Safari instead. See The Safari share sheet.
- No connection: check that your iPhone is online and try again.
You can also type a recipe in: tap Add, then Type a recipe, and add a photo from your library.
Searching
The search field at the top of the library looks through recipe titles, ingredients and tags as you type. Type an ingredient such as lemon to see every recipe that uses it.
Tap a tag in the tag row to show only recipes with that tag. Add tags to a recipe with Edit.
Scaling and cook mode
Scale a recipe
On a recipe, change the servings with the stepper next to the yield. Every quantity in the ingredient list scales with it. To start every recipe at your usual number, set Default servings in the app's Settings.
Cook mode
Tap Cook on a recipe. The screen stays awake and shows one step at a time in large type. Swipe, or tap Next and Back, to move between steps. The ingredients, scaled to your servings, are in a sheet at the bottom of the screen.
Exporting and importing the zip
Export every recipe
- Open the app's Settings and tap Export all recipes.
- Choose where the zip goes: Save to Files, a computer or a message.
The zip holds recipes.json with every recipe, one Markdown file per recipe that reads like a recipe card, and an images folder with your photos. Any computer can open it without this app. Export is free, with no limits.
Import an export
Open the app's Settings and tap Import an export, or tap Add, then Import an export, and choose the zip. Use it to move your recipes to a new iPhone or to restore them.
Pro and restoring purchases
Free and Pro
Saving, link import, search, tags, scaling, cook mode, print and export are free, with no limits, and nothing you save is ever locked behind a purchase. Pro adds a weekly meal planner, a shopping list built from the plan and grouped by aisle, and themes.
- Pro Monthly: $4.99 a month, renews automatically unless cancelled
- Pro Lifetime: $14.99 once, never renews
Restore a purchase
On a new iPhone, or after reinstalling the app, open the app's Settings and tap Restore purchases. Make sure you are signed in with the Apple Account you used to buy Pro.
If a purchase says it is waiting for approval, it needs a parent or guardian to approve it through Ask to Buy. Pro turns on once it is approved.
Cancel the subscription
- Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
- Tap your name at the top, then tap Subscriptions.
- Choose Recipe Keeper: Save & Cook, then tap Cancel Subscription.
- Cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends to avoid the next charge.
Pro stays on until the end of the period you paid for. Your plans and lists stay on your iPhone. Pro Lifetime is a one-time purchase, so there is nothing to cancel.
Refunds
Apple processes every purchase. To request a refund, go to reportaproblem.apple.com (opens in a new tab) and sign in with your Apple Account.
Deleting data
Your recipes, photos, plans and lists are stored on your iPhone and in its backup. There is no account, no server of ours and no analytics. Details are in the privacy policy.
- One recipe: open it and tap Delete.
- Everything: export first if you want a copy, then delete the app from your iPhone. That removes everything it stored on the device.
- Backups and exports: copies in your iPhone backups and any zip you exported stay until you delete them.
